Summer 2021 specific FAQ's
What health / hygiene procedures and policies are in place?
All staff and campers will complete a health screening each morning, which includes temperature checks and answering a series of questions. Any staff or camper with a temp higher than 100.4 will not be permitted to enter Camp Kerusso. Staff and campers will be trained in recommended hygiene practices and informational signs will be posted throughout camp. Hand sanitizer will be readily available for regular use. Staff and campers will thoroughly wash their hands or use hand sanitizer between activities and before eating.
What cleaning protocols are in place?
Bathrooms and changing rooms will be closed and cleaned at least twice daily. Once midday and once at the end of the day. All equipment will be wiped down and sanitized multiple times daily. All high touch surfaces in the pavilion will be wiped down between group use.
How will campers be grouped?
Campers will be placed in a group of up to 8 campers and a counselor. Groups will then be paired by gender and grade to form "Squads". These Squads, and only these individual squads, will be assigned activities and meal times together throughout the week to limit chance of exposure.
Are masks required?
Masks will be required for all staff and campers for drop off/pick up. Although highly encouraged, masks will NOT be required within groups or squads.
Does my child need a negative COVID-19 test to attend camp?
NO, campers are NOT required to have a negative COVID-19 test to attend camp. All campers will receive a temperature check and answer a health questionnaire as a part of our daily health screening.
Will drop off / pick up look different this year?
NEW TIME: Drop off will begin at 8:00 am each day. Campers MUST remain in their vehicle until all health checks are complete and a staff member gives the verbal "okay". Masks are to be worn by staff and campers during carpool. If you need to make a change / update to your camper's info (health, pick up permissions, etc) you will be directed to a designated parking area and asked to complete the change online. Your camper will NOT be allowed to exit the vehicle until it is complete. Please make sure your camper's info is correct PRIOR to arrival. Early pickup will still be available upon request. You will need to complete our early pick up form. It will be available on the website and emailed out prior to the start of our summer 2021 session.
How are meals, food, and canteen being handled this summer?
Meal times will be staggered to allow proper social distancing between squads. NO sharable food items will be allowed this summer. Each camper needs to pack their own lunch, utensils and reusable water bottle. Campers will not be allowed to trade/share food items. There will be NO pizza Friday for summer 2021. Instead, your tuition will include a $2 canteen credit. As cash will NOT be accepted at the canteen, you will have the opportunity to add "Canteen Cash" credit to your campers online registration account.
Are parents allowed at Camp?
Sadly, no. We are not allowing any tours or guests this summer. Also, as much as we love to have you join us on Fridays, we will NOT be having any parent assemblies. Carpool will operate as normal on Friday afternoon.
What happens if camp is canceled?
If for some reason camp were canceled due to COVID-19 or a similar emergency, you will be refunded your entire camp fee minus the $25 registration fee per week registered. If cancellation occurred mid-week, the refunded camp fee would be prorated appropriately. Please familiarize yourself with our full cancellation policy which can be found on our "About" page.
